Professional Background
Clinical Practice
I've worked with adolescents and families in private practice, school-based settings, and intensive outpatient programs since 2015. My clinical focus is anxiety disorders, identity development, and the intersection of family systems and individual adolescent mental health.
If you're looking for therapy services, I maintain a small private practice in New York City and also see clients via telehealth throughout New York State.
Training & Education
I provide training for mental health professionals, school counselors, and educators through workshops, webinars, and consultation. My teaching focuses on translating research into practical clinical strategies and helping professionals build confidence in evidence-based approaches.
Recent training topics include anxiety-focused therapy with teens, AI ethics in clinical practice, and school-based mental health program development.
Research & Writing
I believe in making research accessible. The resources on this site translate current findings in adolescent development, neuroscience, and treatment outcomes into language that families and practitioners can actually use.
My writing has appeared in professional journals and parent-focused publications. I'm particularly interested in how technology affects adolescent mental health and the ethical implications of AI in therapeutic settings.
Clinical Approach
Here's what guides my work with adolescents and families:
-
Evidence-Based but Flexible
I use proven approaches like CBT and exposure therapy, but adapt them to each teen's developmental stage, cultural context, and individual needs. Research guides the framework; the person guides the application.
-
Development is Not Pathology
Adolescence involves natural exploration, questioning, and sometimes distress. I help families distinguish between normal developmental challenges and clinical concerns that need intervention.
-
Family as Context and Resource
Teenagers don't exist in isolation. Family patterns can maintain symptoms or support healing. I assess family dynamics and involve parents strategically, depending on what each situation requires.
-
Respect for Adolescent Autonomy
Teens need both support and agency. I balance appropriate parent involvement with respect for the teenager's emerging independence and right to confidentiality.
