Translating research into practice

I'm a licensed clinical social worker based in New York, where I work with children, adolescents, and families navigating the everyday challenges of development and mental health.

After more than a decade in clinical practice, I kept noticing a gap between what parents were hearing in popular media and what the research actually shows. Too often, parenting advice is either oversimplified to the point of uselessness or so academic it feels inaccessible.

This newsletter bridges that gap. Every month, I dig into a specific aspect of child development or family dynamics, combining clinical insights with evidence-based research. I write for parents who want more than platitudes and professionals who value practical application.

My training includes an MSW from Columbia University and ongoing work in cognitive-behavioral therapy, attachment theory, and developmental trauma. I supervise graduate students, consult with schools, and maintain a private practice in Manhattan.

Before becoming a therapist, I taught middle school English—an experience that taught me as much about adolescent development as any textbook. I live in Brooklyn with my partner and our relentlessly curious six-year-old, who keeps my theoretical knowledge grounded in daily reality.

I started this newsletter because I believe parents and caregivers deserve better information, and because writing helps me think more clearly about the work I do. If you're interested in the intersection of research, clinical practice, and real family life, this newsletter is for you.
