I'm a clinical social worker specializing in child development and family systems. For over a decade, I've worked with parents and children navigating everything from everyday developmental challenges to significant life transitions.
This newsletter started as a way to share what I was seeing in my practice with a wider audience. Every month, I write about the patterns I notice, the questions parents ask repeatedly, and the research that's changing how we think about raising kids.
Parents who want to understand the why behind their child's behavior. Clinicians looking for accessible ways to explain developmental concepts. Anyone interested in the intersection of attachment theory, neuroscience, and real-world parenting.
You don't need a background in psychology. You just need to care about raising emotionally healthy kids and be willing to think critically about how we do that.
I received my MSW from Columbia University and have been practicing clinical social work since 2012. I've worked in school settings, private practice, and community mental health, which has given me perspective on how different systems impact family life.
I'm trained in attachment-based therapy, cognitive behavioral approaches, and family systems work. But what shapes my writing most is what I learn from the families I work with, the honest conversations about what's hard, what helps, and what we're all still figuring out together.
Parenting advice often swings between unrealistic ideals and oversimplified techniques. I wanted to create something different: writing that takes both research and lived experience seriously, that acknowledges complexity without becoming overwhelming, and that treats parents as thoughtful people capable of nuanced decision-making.
I also wanted to write for clinicians who need accessible ways to share concepts with the families they serve. Every issue is designed to be useful whether you're a parent in the thick of it or a professional supporting families.
No products or programs to sell. This newsletter exists to share ideas, not to funnel you toward a paid course or coaching package.
Evidence-based but practical. I reference research but never at the expense of real-world applicability.
Honest about complexity. I don't pretend there are simple answers to hard questions, and I'm transparent about uncertainty when it exists.
Respectful of your time. One thoughtful email per month. That's it.
When I'm not writing or seeing clients, I'm reading research on developmental psychology, thinking about how systems create barriers to good parenting, and trying to practice what I preach with my own family.
I live in Brooklyn with my partner and two kids who teach me daily that knowing the theory and living it are very different things.
